Dear Cruz,
I cannot believe that you are already six months old. It seems as though just yesterday you were placed in my arms for the very first time. You changed my world six months ago. I thought I had a pretty good idea of what it would feel like to be a mommy to you, but I had no idea that it would feel like this. So fulfilling, so amazing, so perfectly wonderful. You are loved so much, little baby. I just want to treasure these times forever.
You have been such a joy to watch grow. Each new thing that you do makes daddy and I so excited! We love to see you discover how to do new things. We have been making you practice sitting up...sometimes you topple over, but you seem to enjoy it! Today you were doing a really good job at it! You sat up by yourself on the couch, all big and tall, with a huge smile on your face! You looked so pleased. You have also been rolling over like crazy, and you've been loving your solid foods (I think the peas are your least favorite though). You grab your toes all the time...and you try to eat them too! You can pretty much get all of your toes in your mouth. You are a very good grabber now...you can pretty much snatch anything within your reach. Just tonight you were grabbing Daddy's water glass and licking it. The other day you grabbed a handful of my chips that were on my plate.
You are such a happy little baby. You love to lay under the big window in the living room and play with your toys. You will lay there for a long time, just cooing and playing. I think one of your favorite places to be is outside. You get so happy whenever we go outside. Sometimes you and I just sit outside on the deck and look at all the trees and the big beautiful sky. We listen to the birds too. Your little head moves all over the place, trying to take everything in. You get really happy when daddy plays with you too. He throws you up in the air and makes you laugh so hard. You like it when he startles you...you like to be scared. You seem to think it's funny. We will do about anything to make you laugh. We act like fools, but it is all worth it when we get a smile or a giggle from you!
You did something the other day that made me very scared! You swallowed a bandaid and a little piece of tape that I had wound around it to make it tight! You had cut one of your tiny fingers on a pop can earlier this week (because you are so good at grabbing things now), and so we had a bandaid wound tightly around your finger. I thought it was on there good enough, but when Grandma and I got home from shopping, I heard you choking on something in your car seat. I quickly tried to get you out to see if you were ok. I then noticed that your bandaid was missing! You sure gave me a scare. You pooped out your tape today and I am hoping that we will find your bandaid in your diaper tomorrow. You silly little boy. I am going to have to keep my eye on you!!
Happy 6 month birthday, my little Cruz. Thank you for giving your daddy and I so much joy. We love you so very very much.
Love,
Your Mommy
