Baby Coming Wednesday!

It seems we won't be waitin' on a baby much longer.  Carrie and I just got back from her follow-up visit to our eventful Friday evening.  Her blood pressure was still high so the doctor said we have a decision to make.  Dr. Collins said that working is definitely out of the question, so we should decide whether or not to induce.  The decision was really quite simple.  At this point in the pregnancy (37.5 weeks), the doctor said the baby will not benefit from waiting another couple weeks.  On the flip side, every day that goes by that Carrie's blood pressure is up is an increased chance that it will develop into something more severe (preeclampsia, toxemia, etc.)  Dr. Collins said that the baby is 100% healthy, and that Carrie is ready to have this baby (3 cm dilated, effaced).

So here we are!  Our last days before parenthood.  We will be admitted to Lakeside Hospital at 7:15 Wednesday morning.  Carrie will receive increasing doses of pitocin to induce labor.  Dr. Collins said that she will break Carrie's water around 9:00.  This means that one way or another, we should have a babe by Thursday morning at the latest.

Here's to a new baby and a Big XII national champion by Thursday night!

I'll keep you posted...

Yay! I'm so excited for you two! It's going to be amazing! Get some rest while you can and get the camera and camcorder batteries charged! Make sure you document everything for Carrie - I so appreciated having video of a lot of things because I was out of it for quite a bit! LL
